Happy June!! I was a happy picker last Saturday, hunting with my peeps, Johanna and Patty. I do love picking with peeps! We met at Patty's house at a little before 0'dark thirty and made it to the first sale at 6am. There were lots of yard sales and only so much time. I beleive we stopped shopping around 9:30 and had breakfast together to catch up on our week and lives. Best part of the Saturday morning tradition for me is conversation with friends.
Below is Patty's van trunk shot. Obviously we found lots of stuff treasures, something for literally everyone. As usual I will only show what I found. The ladies' goodies you'll just have to imagine.
I recently realized I have no trays. Gradually, one at a time, they have broken a handle, fell off a wall, etc. So I was on the lookout for a "new" one. The one below is a perfect size and needs no touchups. The flowers are tile inserts and I thought quite pretty. I will endeavor to take better care.
The food storage canisters go to my sister Fran. They seal nicely and no chips or cracks. The Christmas velcro tape in green and red will be put to use as needed. And definitely not just for Christmas decor. I gave 2 to the veterinary clinic I run errands for since they usually have use for this stuff. I pick up expensive brand hair products when I find them cheap at yard sales and the ones below are great! Even found a small air freshener too. The little green package at the bottom contains soap (I love good soap) and shower and bath gel. And the sprinkler will be used at my grandson's birthday party next weekend. Pool party for toddlers!
All shown here cost me $6.50 |
My niece Lindsey had requested I purchase kid size yard tools for her son, Beau. And these I snatched up for a great price. I did reserve one of the shovels for Nate to use at the beach. You can did pretty fast with sturdy shovel and create great holes and large sandcastles.
50 cents each |
I've been on the lookout for a kid size basketball hoop for Nate and this is in excellent condition and a good price. He hasn't used it yet but it will be out for the birthday party. Yard fun!
Little Tikes basketball hoop: $6 |
Last Friday, I went to a sale around lunch time and found 4 of these glass storage containers. Nice and large, I think they hold a little under a gallon. I showed them to my daughter Brenna and she loved them. She traded me her older metal ones for these. I sold hers for $10. Family discount!
4 for $5 |
Here they are after being filled and labeled. |
Below is a better close up of the canisters for my sister, Fran and also a beach shade for beach trips with Nate. My daughter Brenna and son-in-law Robbie might find it helpful this summer.
Both shade and set of canisters were $2 each. |
I found childrens' shoes and bought a couple for Nate to grow into, and the top two to sell.
Children's shoes were $1 a pair. I have already sold the girl's sandals for $5 |
Another NorthFace jacket! This was in "like new" condition and I bought it for $10. It sold quickly for $40.
Step level Readers are great reselling books. I can usually buy from between .10 to .50 and resell (depending on condition) for $1-$1.25. Lately I have found several moms who basically ask me to let them know when I get more and they buy from me, especially now that school is out.
Now you don't always have to pay for items! Patty found this couch (now gracing her family room) for free. Students leaving a rental had just carried it out. Really great condition, covers remove for machine wash. Out with her old, rather beat up 25 yr old+ sofa and in with this lovely, comfy couch. Should many more years. It is well constructed and made in NC near Greensboro. Love free!!

Kelley had bean bags on her wish list for seating in the boat by little ones. This small footstool is perfect. Vinyl covering and no holes or rips.
Bean bag ottoman: $1 |
I like Pyrex. I just can't help appreciating this vintage bowl and let me tell you, it is quite big. So I picked it up for Fran's second home at the coast. Hope she appreciates it too.
Big Pyrex bowl: $2
Not a great picture but I love it. It's a Christmas tree skirt and the jewel tones caught my eye and I had to have it. Fingers crossed Pru the cat won't "fall in love" with it. Those claws are lethal on sateen!
Christmas tree skirt: $3 |
One of my favorite finds was this pair of faux Jack Rogers sandals. They fit great and look never worn. I have already worn a couple of times. Yay!! I didn't have to pay retail! (I almost went out and bought a pair. Really, tried on a pair at a shoe store...and left without buying. They just didn't feel comfortable, even on sale.
Sandals: $1!! |
Happy June everyone. Hope you found some deals, steals, and bargains too. Catch up with you next week in the cool, Catskills during our vacation.
